What is a compensation benefit?
Am I entitled to a compensation benefit?
An employee reassigned to other work is entitled to a compensation benefit:
- during pregnancy, because the work previously performed by the pregnant women is prohibited under a generally binding regulation or constitutes a threat to pregnancy according to a medical opinion;
- until the end of the ninth month after giving birth, because the work previously performed by the mother is prohibited until the end of the ninth month after giving birth under a generally binding regulation or constitutes a threat to her health or maternity according to a medical opinion;
- if the work she is reassigned to gives her a lower income than the work she did before the reassignment through no fault of her own.
You are entitled if you meet the following requirements:
- you are an employee (the payment of sickness insurance contributions by the employer is not monitored);
- you were reassigned to other work during pregnancy or maternity;
- you earn less income due to reassignment;
- your employment relationship continues (you may receive a compensation benefit only during your reassignment).
If you are entitled to a compensation benefit under more than one sickness insurances, you must satisfy the conditions listed below for each of them.
