An accident rent is a regular cash benefit provided under accident insurance that can offset your reduction in earnings as a result of an accident at work (or an occupational disease). You are not entitled to an accident rent during the period when you are entitled to an accident supplement or are entitled to requalification or rehabilitation benefit.

What is an accident rent?
Am I entitled to an accident rent?
If you have suffered an accident at work or an occupational disease, you are entitled to an accident rent if you are:
- an employee; or
- a person who is covered by the personal scope of accident insurance (see Persons Entitled under Accident Insurance (SK)).
In addition to the above conditions, all the following conditions must still be met at the same time:
- the social insurance medical assessor will assess the decrease in working capacity as an accident at work (or an occupational disease). This decrease must be greater than 40%,
- you have not reached pensionable age or have not been awarded an early old age pension.
You are not entitled to an accident rent during the period when you are entitled to an accident supplement or are entitled to requalification or rehabilitation benefit.
Entitlement to an accident rent ceases on the date when you reach pensionable age or on the date when an early old age pension is awarded.
The medical assessor has determined a 45 % reduction in your working capacity due to an accident at work. You do not receive an old age or early old age pension. After the accident at work, you were temporarily unfit for work and, during that period, you were entitled to an accident supplement. You are not entitled to an accident rent while you are receiving an accident supplement. You only become entitled to an accident rent if you are not entitled to an accident supplement (and the same accident at work is involved).
If you become entitled to rehabilitation or requalification benefit for an accident at work, you will not be entitled to an accident rent. If you decide not to undergo vocational rehabilitation or requalification without a serious reason, you will not be entitled to an accident rent either.
How do I apply for an accident rent?
You can apply for this benefit by submitting an Application for Awarding an Accident Rent (SK) at a Social Insurance Agency branch.
