How to apply for vocational rehabilitation

What is vocational rehabilitation?

Text

Vocational rehabilitation is an accident insurance benefit intended to help the injured person return to work and the company after an accident at work or occupational disease.

Vocational rehabilitation is the training needed to ensure that the injured person acquires the working capacity needed to carry out the existing activity or other suitable activity that corresponds to their fitness for work.

Who can be provided with vocational rehabilitation?

Vocational rehabilitation may be provided to an employee or a person who is covered by the personal scope of accident insurance (see Persons Entitled under Accident Insurance (SK))

Who decides whether I need vocational rehabilitation?

The medical assessor of the relevant Social Insurance Agency branch will assess whether you need to undergo vocational rehabilitation (learn more in the Accident Insurance Medical Assessment Activity (SK) section).

When can vocational rehabilitation be provided?

Not everyone who has suffered an accident at work or an occupational disease is automatically entitled to vocational rehabilitation. This entitlement is assessed by the medical assessor who assesses the reduction in working capacity.

You may receive vocational rehabilitation for the same accident at work or occupational disease for a maximum period of six months (this period may be extended by a further six months in justified cases).
