Pay contributions retrospectively

Have you decided to pay insurance for a study period retrospectively?

I did not pay contributions, but I would like to have the given period taken into account. Do I have the option to pay insurance retrospectively?

Text

Yes, but you can only do so in the case of pension insurance. You can do this at any time, even when you are making a claim for a pension benefit (insured persons use this option when they want to increase their pension benefit or to gain sufficient time to qualify for a pension benefit).

For what period can I pay insurance retrospectively?

Text

You may pay contributions retrospectively for the period from 1st January 2004 (or the period of suspended pension insurance from 1st January 2005), but only for the period defined by law.

How do I apply to pay insurance retrospectively?

Text
  1. Fill in the form Notification of Additional Payment of Pension Insurance Contributions; the form must be accompanied by a certificate of attendance at school, or a school leaving certificate, or other documents proving the relevant facts.
  2. Submit the form and supporting documents to the relevant Social Insurance Agency branch according to your place of permanent residence.

What will be the amount of the contribution I want to pay?

Text

You will determine the assessment basis from which you will pay additional pension insurance contributions yourself. It may not be lower than the minimum assessment basis or higher than the maximum assessment basis applicable in the year for which the contributions are paid retrospectively.

When do I have to pay the insurance?

Text

If pension insurance contributions are paid retrospectively, there is no defined contribution payment term. The Social Insurance Agency cannot prescribe or enforce it. But it will only count towards your pension from the date of payment.
