When should I apply for a pension increase?

If you stopped working and your pension insurance ceased during the year, you can apply for an increase in your old age pension from the day following the end of your insurance. You can only file an application for an increase of your old age pension once per calendar year.
Important note: if you are still working, you do not need to apply for an increase in your pension! In such case, your pension will be increased automatically from January of the following year.
How to proceed when filing an application

- Write an informal request (letter) stating:
- your identification data (name, surname, birth number, address);
- the subject of the application (I request an increase in my pension for the period from 1 January of the calendar year to the termination date of insurance); and
- the date from which you are requesting the increase (from the day following termination of insurance).
- Send the signed application to:
- the Social Insurance Agency headquarters (Sociálna poisťovňa, ústredie, Ul. 29. augusta č. 8, 813 63 Bratislava 1) or
- via your electronic mailbox if you have activated it and you use an electronic citizen’s identity card – eID (you can find more information at the Central Government Portal slovensko.sk)
- On the basis of the application, the Social Insurance Agency will send you a decision on the increase in your retirement pension.
