Send a pension to another bank account

Do you want to change the bank account your pension is paid into? You may make such a change for any reason. It does not matter whether you open a new account or change bank, you always make the change of account using the same form.

How should I proceed?

Visit the bank

where you have the account you want your pension to be paid into.

Fill in the form

Application for Transfer of Pension Benefits to the Pensioner's Bank Account (SK) (available from any bank).

You can also apply to have your pension transferred to your bank account by an informal application. The application must include:

your identification details (birth number, first name, surname, home address, including postal code);
the account number in IBAN format;
the date,
your certified signature; and
reliable proof that you are the owner of the account to which you are requesting the pension to be transferred. This can be, for example, an agreement to set up a bank account or a confirmation from the bank that you are the account holder.

Have the application form certified

at your bank.

Send the form certified by the bank to the Social Insurance Agency

to the relevant Social Insurance Agency branch; or
the Social Insurance Agency headquarters (Sociálna poisťovňa, ústredie, Ul. 29. augusta č. 8, 813 63 Bratislava 1); or
via your electronic mailbox if you have activated it and you use an electronic citizen’s identity card – eID (you can find more information at the Central Government Portal slovensko.sk)

Wait for written notification

of the change, which will be sent to you by the Social Insurance Agency.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Never close your original bank account before the Social Insurance Agency informs you that your pension will be paid into the new account. Otherwise, payment of the pension may be interrupted.

Can I have my pension sent to a bank account belonging to another person?

Yes, you can apply to have your pension transferred to your spouse’s bank account: Application for a Pension To Be Transferred to the Spouse’s Account (SK).

A maximum of three months, but these should be calculated from the date of the pension payment following the calendar month in which the application was received by the Social Insurance Agency. This means that if your application was received by the Social Insurance Agency on, for example, 10^th January and your pension payment date is the 20^th of the month, you will have your pension paid into your new account no later than 20^th April of that year.
